Who Am I?
My Beginning:
In January 2012, I traveled to Zambia for a second time. Zambia is a country in eastern Africa, about a three hour flight north of South Africa. I traveled there with an organization called Operation Mobilization for a mission trip. Armed with a simple point and shoot digital camera, I started to take pictures of what I saw. I wanted to capture my experiences and share them with my family and friends when I got back. It was on this trip that I discovered that I have an eye for photography.
Since then, I have been able to upgrade my photography equipment. How goofy would I look if I showed up to a wedding with a $200 point-and-shoot digital camera from Bestbuy. I don't think I would be able to get away with that. I have done family sessions, portrait sessions, business and advertising, parties, graduations, special events, and new born sessions. Photography sessions are so much more than giving clients good photos. They're about creating memories and enjoying the session. If I am being honest, I don't care if I give my clients great looking pictures if they hated the experience. I strive hard to create a session environment where my clients can have fun, be relaxed, and enjoy the time with their loved ones.
I am also a social worker by profession and I specialize in working with children and families. Social work focuses on self care. When life gets crazy, it's important to find something to do that helps relieve the stress. Some people meditate, others participate in yoga, I take pictures. When life gets crazy, I love being able to escape into the realm of photography, where it's me and my camera.
